MassJam is a statewide camporee hosted every 5 years by the seven Massachusetts BSA councils. This year’s event will be held at Barnstable County Fairgrounds on Cape Cod over Columbus Day weekend (Sat. Oct. 7- Mon. Oct. 9) and is expected to draw about 5,000 participants. An event of this magnitude obviously requires a large amount of staff and logistics support.

The participating councils have asked their OA lodges to supply 10-12 OA members each to form an OA Service corps to support the event. Duties will include assisting with check-in and registration, parking, crowd control, and assistance at event venues and other tasks. Staffing will be done in shifts, so OA members will have “downtime” to participate in the action areas as well. Although the event runs from Saturday to Monday, OA service corps members will be asked to report on Friday evening to be able to help with Saturday check-in and arrival.

The registration fee for OA Service Corps members is $35 and includes all food for the weekend (Friday through Monday morning) and a staff t-shirt.
