Pennacook Lodge Announces New Policy on Member Participation at Events

Pennacook Lodge, Spirit of Adventure Council BSA strives to host and support Scouting events and activities that are engaging, positive, fun and inspiring to all its members and attendees. Accordingly, the safety, well-being and appropriate engagement of all scouts and scouters, volunteers, parents and everyone involved is a value we all share.

Furthermore, the success of Pennacook Lodge depends, in large part, on the conduct of each individual member and in upholding our often-stated value of “how we treat each other”.
Now, in an effort to recognize September as National Preparedness Month and to better support all OA Members in properly readying themselves for lodge events and activities, Pennacook Lodge is announcing a new policy on Lodge Member Event Participation, effective September 15, 2024. This new policy and member agreement focuses on the fundamental principles of Scouting and the Order, including the Scout Motto and the OA Admonition, in outlining Pennacook Lodge’s values and mutual expectations when presenting and running lodge events.
Pennacook Lodge commits to heightening its administrative readiness and communications to all members and participants in promoting events and encouraging mutual preparedness. The policy also includes a Participation Expectation Agreement for members to remind themselves about personal event readiness and commit to conduct and behaviors. Obvious but important conduct for Arrowmembers includes observing the scout oath and law, heartfelt attention to the Admonition and focusing on YPT guidelines and the buddy system.

Pennacook Lodge provides this Member Event Participant Policy based on the notion that an event will be successful if Lodge leadership adheres to the principles and practices of the Guide to Safe Scouting and its supplemental guidelines, and that all participants are properly informed and prepared for the event. This policy also includes a Participant Expectation Agreement that outlines expected conduct of all participants and that fosters a positive role-modeling environment fully vested in the Scout Motto of “Be Prepared”, the Scout Oath and Law and the Obligation and Admonition of the Order of the Arrow.

Effective September 15, 2024 for all events and activities of Pennacook Lodge, all participants will be expected to acknowledge, read and agree to the Event Participation Policy. This will be accomplished by the member at the time of event registration by checking a required box on the form itself.

Pennacook Lodge is pleased to continue to support its members and grow its outreach in helping make Scouting thrive in our community.
